Your Health and Wellbeing Matter

PickRetreats helps travellers discover and book Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, naturopathy, wellness and other retreat programmes.

Every person’s health, medical history, physical ability and response to a programme may be different. Please review the retreat details carefully, consult a qualified healthcare professional where appropriate and provide complete health information to the relevant retreat provider before participating in any treatment or activity.

1. General Information

The information available on www.pickretreats.com is provided for general information, retreat comparison and booking purposes.

Website descriptions, articles, programme details, recommendations and customer-support communications are not intended to constitute medical advice, diagnosis, prescription or treatment.

Nothing on the PickRetreats website should be used as a substitute for advice from a qualified doctor or other appropriately licensed healthcare professional.

2. Role of PickRetreats

PickRetreats may act as:

  • a marketplace connecting travellers with independent retreat providers; or
  • the organiser of selected retreat packages involving independent resorts, practitioners and service providers.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, medical consultations, treatments, therapies, medicines, yoga sessions, dietary programmes and other wellness services are provided by the relevant retreat centre, doctor, therapist, practitioner or instructor.

PickRetreats does not independently diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medicines or provide emergency medical treatment.

3. No Guarantee of Results

Retreat programmes may be intended to support relaxation, wellbeing, lifestyle improvement, rehabilitation, rejuvenation or other personal goals.

However, PickRetreats does not guarantee:

  • the prevention, treatment or cure of any disease or medical condition;
  • a particular improvement in physical or mental health;
  • weight loss or changes in appearance;
  • detoxification or cleansing results;
  • relief from pain or symptoms;
  • improved fertility, immunity, vitality or longevity;
  • the discontinuation of medication; or
  • any other medical, therapeutic or wellness outcome.

Results may vary depending on factors including age, health condition, medical history, lifestyle, programme duration, adherence to professional advice and individual response.

4. Consult a Healthcare Professional

You should consult your doctor or another qualified healthcare professional before booking or attending a retreat if you:

  • have an existing medical condition;
  • are receiving medical or psychiatric treatment;
  • take prescription medication;
  • have recently undergone surgery;
  • have an injury or mobility limitation;
  • have allergies or dietary restrictions;
  • are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy;
  • have previously experienced adverse reactions to treatments, herbs or supplements; or
  • are unsure whether a programme is suitable for you.

Do not delay necessary medical care because of information found on the PickRetreats website or because you are considering attending a retreat.

5. Medical Emergencies

PickRetreats is not an emergency medical service.

If you experience severe symptoms, a medical emergency or an immediate risk to your health or safety, contact local emergency services or visit an appropriate hospital or medical facility without delay.

6. Health Information and Disclosure

You are responsible for providing complete and accurate information about your health, medical history, allergies, medication, pregnancy, dietary requirements, disabilities and other relevant circumstances.

Wherever possible, health and medical information should be provided directly to the relevant retreat provider or qualified practitioner.

Where health information is shared with PickRetreats, it may be forwarded to the relevant retreat provider solely to assist with assessing suitability and arranging the booking.

Failure to disclose relevant information may affect the suitability or safety of the programme and may result in a treatment, activity or booking being modified, restricted or declined.

7. Medical Screening and Programme Changes

A retreat provider may require:

  • a health questionnaire;
  • a medical consultation;
  • medical reports or test results;
  • clearance from your treating doctor; or
  • additional information before confirming or beginning a programme.

A doctor or practitioner may modify, postpone or decline a treatment or activity where it is considered unsuitable or unsafe.

The treatment plan provided after an assessment may differ from the general programme description displayed at the time of booking.

8. Medicines, Herbs and Supplements

Do not stop, reduce or change prescribed medication without consulting your treating doctor or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Herbal medicines, oils, supplements and traditional preparations may not be suitable for every person and may interact with medication or existing health conditions.

Inform the relevant doctor or practitioner about all medicines, herbs and supplements you are currently taking before accepting a new preparation.

9. Treatments and Physical Activities

Retreat programmes may include massage, Ayurveda treatments, yoga, meditation, fasting, exercise, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, naturopathy, dietary changes and other activities.

Some treatments or activities may involve physical effort, emotional discomfort, temporary soreness, dietary adjustment or other effects.

You should:

  • ask questions before participating;
  • follow the instructions of qualified practitioners;
  • participate within your physical and personal limits;
  • report pain, dizziness, breathing difficulty, allergic reactions or unusual symptoms immediately; and
  • stop any treatment or activity if you feel unsafe or seriously uncomfortable.

10. Consent and Personal Boundaries

The practitioner should explain the general nature of a treatment or therapy before it begins.

You may ask questions, request appropriate privacy and draping, ask for another staff member to be present, decline a treatment or stop a session if you feel uncomfortable.

Any inappropriate behaviour, unwanted contact, harassment or serious privacy concern should be reported immediately to the retreat management and PickRetreats.

11. Diet, Fasting and Allergies

Certain programmes may include therapeutic diets, restricted menus, fasting or changes to normal eating habits.

You must disclose food allergies, intolerances, medical dietary requirements and eating-related health concerns before participating.

Do not undertake intensive fasting or a highly restrictive diet without appropriate professional supervision, particularly if you have a medical condition or take medication.

A completely allergen-free kitchen or dining environment cannot be guaranteed unless the retreat provider expressly confirms this in writing.

12. Mental and Emotional Wellbeing

Meditation, silence, counselling, breathwork and other retreat activities may affect people differently.

If you have a history of serious mental-health concerns or are receiving psychiatric care, seek advice from your treating professional before joining an intensive programme.

Tell the retreat provider immediately if you experience severe emotional distress, confusion, panic or another concerning change in your mental wellbeing.

13. Provider Information

PickRetreats takes reasonable steps to present information supplied by retreat providers clearly and accurately.

However, programme schedules, practitioners, facilities, treatments and availability may change.

Retreat providers are responsible for:

  • maintaining licences, registrations and professional qualifications required for their services;
  • assessing the suitability of treatments;
  • providing accurate programme information;
  • obtaining any treatment-specific consent required;
  • delivering services safely and professionally; and
  • complying with applicable health and safety requirements.

14. Articles and Educational Content

Articles, guides, frequently asked questions and other educational content on the PickRetreats website are intended to provide general information.

Such content may not reflect your personal health circumstances and should not be treated as an individual medical recommendation.

Medical and wellness knowledge may develop over time, and PickRetreats does not guarantee that every article will always reflect the most recent professional guidance.

15. Testimonials and Reviews

Reviews, testimonials and personal stories describe the experiences or opinions of individual travellers.

They do not constitute medical evidence and do not guarantee that another person will experience the same results.

16. Automated Recommendations

PickRetreats may use technology or artificial intelligence to suggest retreats based on the information and preferences provided by a traveller.

Automated recommendations are provided to support retreat discovery and comparison. They are not medical assessments or clinical recommendations.

You should independently review the programme information and obtain professional medical advice where appropriate before booking.

17. After the Retreat

Follow any discharge, aftercare or follow-up instructions provided by the retreat’s qualified practitioner.

Seek medical advice if you develop persistent, worsening or unusual symptoms during or after the retreat.

Inform your healthcare professional about treatments, medicines, herbs, supplements, fasting or dietary programmes undertaken during the retreat.

18. Travel and Medical Insurance

Travellers are strongly encouraged to obtain suitable travel and medical insurance.

Insurance should be reviewed to determine whether it covers:

  • existing medical conditions;
  • retreat treatments and activities;
  • cancellation or interruption;
  • medical treatment; and
  • emergency evacuation.

PickRetreats is not an insurer and does not determine insurance claims.
